This year, we’re continuing our campaign at the International Robotic Sailing Competition, an event that UBC started in 2003. This past June we hosted and competed in the 2012 International Robotic Sailing Competition. Not only did the UBC team win the competition, we set a new overall score record. The competition was tough, with teams from across North America including Annapolis (US Naval Academy), Boston (Olin College), and St. John’s (Memorial University). Our team is now looking towards the 2013 competition in Massachusetts, and our goal is to enter the competition with an even better and more advanced robotic sailboat. Standing between us and the finish line are several months of building, programming, tuning, and debugging.
In order to get there, we are seeking generous donors to be a part of our team. You can help us in any of several ways, including cash donations, or in-kind support in the way of materials or manufacturing aid. Any donation will be graciously accepted, and will seriously assist in the success of our project. In recognition of your support, any donor willing to give at least $500 will earn a prominent place for your name or corporate logo on our robotic sailboat; $1000 and up will get a featured position on the sails.
